High class Aga Khan trio at Goffs

Champions Sale features winning half-brothers to Mourayan and Linngari.

Timiyan

Public sale consignments from the Aga Khan Studs are always eagerly awaited and this should certainly be the case for the forthcoming Champions Sale at Goffs, which features three very promising representatives of the stable.

Timiyan (lot 1) will set the ball rolling as the first horse to enter the ring. The three-year-old trained by Dermot Weld has won his two most recent outings in handicap company, at the Galway Festival then at Gowran Park. Both races were over a mile and a half and his combined winning margin was an impressive nine and a half lengths. The son of Ghostzapper hails from an excellent family as his granddam Timarida was champion older mare in Europe, with three victories at the highest level to her name, and his dam Timarwa (Daylami) was successful in a Group 3 contest.

Marakoush

Lot 6 Leliani (Mr Greeley) recently opened his account with a six and a half length victory in his Dundalk maiden over a mile and a half. The progressive colt had previously been placed in his two other outings to date for Dermot Weld. Out of Kahyasi mare Lidakiya, Leliani is a half-brother to tough globetrotter Linngari, winner of a pair of Group 1 contests and placed in several more, and now a successful stallion in France.

Lot 8 Marakoush should generate plenty of attention as this colt by Danehill Dancer comes from a top-class dual purpose family. His dam Mouramara (Kahyasi), a Group 2 winner herself, has given birth to Australian Group 1 winner and Irish Derby third Mourayan, Melbourne Cup third Mourilyan, and Group 2 winning hurdler Mourad. Trained by John Oxx, Marakoush pulverised the opposition to win his one mile five furlong maiden by seven and a half lengths at Ballinrobe a fortnight ago, and has never finished outside the first three in five career outings.
