Aga Khan Studs bred Mirabad showcased his talent over fences on Saturday with a decisive victory in the Gr.1 Maghull Novices’ Chase at Aintree.
Mirabad
The son of Gleneagles was a dual winner and Listed placed in France when trained by Mikel Delzangles. He was sold to NBB Racing as part of the Aga Khan Studs draft of horses in training at the 2023 Arqana Autumn Sale.
He has now won five races over obstacles for new connections, including this Grade 1 contest on Grand National day for champion trainer Dan Skelton and The Forefold Racing Partnership.
Jockey Tristan Durrell said: "I couldn't believe it. I knew the race would suit him if they went fast. It was just a question of if he was good enough to win, which he obviously was. He's hardy and has a lot of heart.”
Mirabad now joins the likes of Zanahiyr, Rashaan, Dawalan and Zarkander on the list of Grade 1 winner over jumps bred and sold by the Aga Khan Studs.
2025 has been another successful year for the connections of mares bred and sold by the Aga Khan Studs. No fewer than four Group 1 winners have flown the flag worldwide – including two high-profile juveniles.
