The Aga Khan Studs send a high class consignment of eight individuals to Arqana’s forthcoming Summer Sale of horses in training on 1st July. This sale has been a source of talented Aga Khan graduates in the past, with Group winners Diakali (Sinndar), Zubayr (Authorized) and the late Baradari (Manduro) all changing hands here in recent years.

Winner of the Gr.3 Prix Noailles and Gr.3 Prix du Prince d’Orange, as well as the Listed Prix François Mathet in 2015 at three years old, lot 232 Karaktar is the highlight of this year’s consignment. The son of the late High Chaparral and Karawana (King’s Best) is a proven middle distance performer and the colt is a half-brother to Stakes performers Karatash (Halling) and Karezak (Azamour), runner up at the highest level over hurdles.

Karaktar will be followed into the Arqana’s ring by five-time winner Loresho (Halling), who notably lifted the Gr.3 Prix de Reux and took third place in the Gr.2 Grand Prix de Deauville last season over an extended mile and a half. This five year-old entire is out of winning Gulch mare Luna Gulch, from the maternal family of Linamix.

The lightly-raced Sayed, lot 353, won as a juvenile at Saint-Cloud last year and has been placed twice this season over a mile. By Stormy Altantic, the colt is out of a winning full sister to triple Group 1 winner and leading stallion Slicky, closely related to Classic sire Siyouni.

Lot 352 Saryshagann (Iffraaj) took third place in the Listed Critérium du Fonds Européen de l’Elevage last season in Deauville, and has won three races to date at two and three years old. From the family of champion miler Sendawar, his dam is a half-sister to Stakes scorer and Group-placed hurdler Serabad.

Another three-year-old colt, lot 293 Barhanpour is a Raven’s Pass half-brother to Gr.1 Secretariat Stakes hero Bayrir. He has been placed on three occasions over a mile to nine and a half furlongs.
