Shemita, a Sadler’s Wells daughter of Prix de Diane winner Shemaka, headed an excellent sale for the Aga Khan Studs’ draft of fillies and mares at Deauville when making €300,000.
This unraced filly is also a half sister to the Listed winner Shemaya, by Darshaan.
Closely related to Shemita, and also unraced, Shashzaya was responsible for the draft’s next highest sale when going to MAB Agency for €250,000. This fine looking young Ashkalani mare is a half-sister to Shemaka, and two other Stakes winners in Sheriyna (Darshaan) and Sheshara (Kahyasi). Shashzaya is in foal for the first time (to Marju), and will leave for Australia once she has foaled.
Kassiyra, a Kendor half sister to four winners including Group 2 winner Kassani and Group 3 winner Kassana, out of a winning Mill Reef half-sister to Kahyasi, also proved popular, eventually going to Alex Scrope for €230,000.
Another filly making over €100,000 was Mouriyana, a winning half-sister to Group 2 winner Mouramara by Akarad. Mouriyana is in foal to Highest Honor, and was eventually knocked down to Peter Doyle for €110,000.
2025 has been another successful year for the connections of mares bred and sold by the Aga Khan Studs. No fewer than four Group 1 winners have flown the flag worldwide – including two high-profile juveniles.
