Colt out of Karsiyaka tops day two

Lot 927, a Fantastic Light colt out of the Karsiyaka, topped yesterday's foal sale in Newmarket.

...

The colt was signed for by John Ferguson who went to 120,000 guineas to secure him.

His dam, Karsiyaka, was bought by Richard Aston of Goldford Stud as a filly out of training at three, and is currently carrying to Choisir. She was the result of a Kahyasi covering of the Listed winner Karlafsha who produced Karliyka, the dam of Group winners Kasthari and Karasta, as well as the Stakes placed Karliyna. Part of the Aga Khan's draft at the Tattersalls December sales, Karliyna sells on Wednesday 30th November (lot 2387).

Kahyasi's success as a broodmare sire is undisputable; he was recently responsible for Grade 1 winner Intercontinental at Belmont Park and counts Cacique, Danelissima, Shamdala, Circassian and Linngari amongst his other successes in 2005. He stands at Haras de Bonneval where his 2006 fee will be €6,000.
