Aga Khan Studs’ maternal line appeals in Australia.
A daughter of Snitzel and Azmiyna topped the first day of the Inglis Easter Sale when selling for A$1.3m
The international appeal of Aga Khan Studs’ bloodlines was to the fore at Inglis Easter Yearling Sales, where a niece of the champion Azamour (lot 32) by Australia’s Champion sire Snitzel raised the opening day’s top price of Aus$1.3 million.
The filly represents the partnership between Arrowfield Stud and the Aga Khan Studs, which has excelled notably thanks to the success of South African Group 1 winner Whisky Baron (Manhattan Rain ex Tazkara, by Sinndar).
Presented by Arrowfield where she was bred, the filly is by red hot sire Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) and she became her sire’s 20th yearling sold for one million dollar or more. She boasts a deep Aga Khan pedigree, rich in talent. Her dam Azmiyna, by Galileo, did not race but is a half-sister to four-time Group 1 winner Azamour, a successful stallion before his premature death, whose influence extended to Australia where his daughter Aloisia won the Gr.1 Caulfield 1,000 Guineas last October.
The filly was purchased for Aus$1.3 million by agent Guy Mulcaster and trainer Chris Waller, who commented he was “Elated to secure lot 32, what a gorgeous filly!” The famous handler already has under his care The Autumn Sun, a Redoute’s Choice half-brother to the top priced filly, which had been purchased for A$700,000 at the same sale last year. Georges Rimaud, manager of the Aga Khan Studs in France declared: "She's a beautiful moving filly and the team at Arrowfield has done a great job with her. We're very happy and wish her new owners every success with the filly."
2025 has been another successful year for the connections of mares bred and sold by the Aga Khan Studs. No fewer than four Group 1 winners have flown the flag worldwide – including two high-profile juveniles.
