Dual purpose draft features high-class families.
Zafayan
Buyers will have an opportunity to invest in half a dozen Aga Khan-bred three-year-olds at the forthcoming Horses in Training sale at Doncaster on 4th September. The consignment includes some well-bred colts and geldings, with versatile profiles.
Winning colt Zafayan (lot 352) should attract plenty of interest. A son of Acclamation and Listed runner-up Zafayra (Nayef), Dermot Weld’s charge won over ten furlongs on his debut. Zafayan is great grandson of multiple Stakes performer Zafzala, herself half-sister to Australian Group 2 scorer Zerpour.
Also from the yard of Dermot Weld, Zarawi (lot 353) is a consistent son of Marju who has finished in the first four on four of his five outings over seven to twelve furlongs. The gelding is a half-brother to Group 2 placed hurdler Zarzal and hails from a successful family under both codes as his pedigree page features champion filly Zarkava and Group winning steeplechaser Zarkali.
Zarawi
The lightly-raced Sindarban (Teofilo, lot 349) has finished second in both appearances to date for Michael Halford, over distances from 10 furlongs to a mile and a half. As his name indicates, the colt is closely related to champion racehorse and proven sire Sinndar. Sindarban is a half-brother to four winners, including Listed scorer Sindirana.
2025 has been another successful year for the connections of mares bred and sold by the Aga Khan Studs. No fewer than four Group 1 winners have flown the flag worldwide – including two high-profile juveniles.
