All eyes on the Arqana Summer Sale for the next Aga Khan Studs draft.
Kalapour
All eyes on the Arqana Summer Sale for the next Aga Khan Studs draft. 2024 has been another successful year so far for horses and mares bred and sold by The Aga Khan Studs.
Kalapour – who was sold privately in 2022 - got the year off to a great start in Australia, winning the Gr.1 Tancred Stakes and placing third in the Gr.1 Sydney Cup. More recently, Eliyass, who sold at last year’s Arqana Arc Sale, won the Listed Lord Mayor’s Cup on debut for his new connections.
Closer to home, another graduate from that sale, Shartash, won the Listed Spring Trophy Stakes for new owners Wathnan Racing, before running credibly in the Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Ezeliya
Aga Khan sold mares meanwhile have produced Stakes winners in the UK, France, Germany, UAE and USA so far this year, including Gr.2 Edgewood Stakes winner Dynamic Pricing and Gr.2 Dubai Gold Cup winner Tower Of London.
The year has also proved a fruitful one for people who bought fillies from The Aga Khan Studs in 2023. Among those horses benefitting from subsequent pedigree updates were half-sisters to 2024 Group winners Ezeliya (Gr.1 Oaks), Rouhiya (Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches), Calandagan (Gr.2 Kind Edward VII Stakes) and Sumiha (Gr.3 Munster Oaks).
15 horses in training and fillies out of training will head to Arqana for the Summer Sale in the first week of July. Among the four winners on offer is Listed winner Rajapour, while the draft also includes wildcard entry Nardaran (placed on his only start to date) and two fillies from the ‘E’ family of Ezeliya, one of whom is a half-sister to the aforementioned Eliyass.
Unbeaten juvenile is out of Aga Khan Studs-bred Zeroua.
