So Mi Dar
Deux top prices à Tattersalls pour l’étalon de Gilltown Stud. A wonderful year on the track for Sea The Stars was matched in the sales ring in Tattersalls this week when a son and daughter of the Tsui family’s champion were top priced colt and filly in Book 1.
Leading the way at 1.2 million gns was the imposing son of Group 3 winner So Mi Dar (Dubawi), bred by Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber at their Watership Down Stud. Agent Charlie Gordon-Watson, acting on behalf of classic winning owner/breeder Bill Farish, had thought all along that this colt was the pick of the sale. The pedigree is one of the best in the stud book with no less than 7 Group 1 winners on the page including Too Darn Hot and Darshaan.
Best Terms
Day 3 saw a stunning filly out of Champion Two-Year-Old Best Terms (Exceed And Excel) realise 1.5 million gns when knocked down to Anthony Stroud, bidding on behalf of Godolphin. Consigned by Newsells Park for Robert Barnett, she is a half-sister to the black type Sea The Stars filly Star Terms, from the prolific Barnett family of Champion race mare Time Charter, tracing back to Athasi. Barnett whose family having been involved in breeding and racing since 1920, described the filly as “the most athletic yearling we have had for quite some time”.
Both purchases are due to be trained in Europe and their trainers have not yet been announced.
