Vazirabad made history today when winning a third consecutive Gr.2 Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan. Under a patient ride from Christophe Soumillon, the six-year-old gelding showed a devastating turn of foot to come from the back of the field and win comfortably in a record breaking time.
He becomes the first horse to have won this race three times and it represents a 14th victory in 21 outings for Vazirabad who has been a model of consistency at the highest level.
His dam Visorama (Linamix) has a yearling colt by Charm Spirit, she is currently in foal to the Gr.1 winning son of Shamardal, Dariyan, and she will visit another Aga Khan Gr.1 winning stallion in 2018, the outstanding looking Harzand (Sea The Stars).
In tribute to His Highness the Aga Khan IV, who passed away in February 2025, France Galop have announced that the Prix d’Ispahan will be renamed the Prix Aga Khan IV (Prix d’Ispahan).
