On the Saturday before the Arc at Longchamp, the only Group 1 event of the day, the Prix de la Forêt, was won by AK homebred Caradak from the dead-heaters Linngari and Welsh Emperor. Bred by the Aga Khan Studs, Caradak, who finished 2nd to Court Masterpiece in last year’s race, is by Desert Style out of a full sister to multiple Gr3 winner Cajarian. Joint runner-up Linngari was also bred by the Aga Khan Studs and is a son of Indian Ridge out of Lidakiya (Kahyasi).
On Arc day the Group 1 Prix du Cadran saw 4-y-o Shamdala bravely finish second to leading English stayer Sergeant Cecil. Shamdala is by Grand Lodge out of the Group 2 winner and Irish Oaks runner-up Shamadara (Kahyasi). Shamdala is a model of consistency being a multiple group race winner and she took her first Group 1 event this summer, the Gran Premio del Milano in Italy. The Aga Khan bred and owned filly may now run in Prix Royal-Oak before a possible tilt at the Hong Kong Vase in December prior to retiring to stud.
