Champion Zarkava (Zamindar) gave birth on Tuesday to a daughter of Siyouni. A Champion on the racetrack, Zarkava won five Group 1s including the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, Prix de Diane and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. She retired to stud undefeated in seven starts.

She was covered by Siyouni last year, who, like her, was bred and raced by H.H. the Aga Khan. The son of Pivotal had showed class and precocity, making his first start in May and winning four races at two, including the Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère. He has made a flying start to his stud career, siring triple Group 1 winner Ervedya from his first crop and classy Group 1 performers such as Volta (second in the Prix de Diane) and Spectre (second in the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and third in the Prix Jean Prat) last year. Siyouni has been fully booked every year since he retired to stud at Haras de Bonneval.

Champion Zarkava will visit Sea The Stars in 2017

Zarkava will see one of her offspring line up in Dubai tomorrow as her son Zarak is due to run in the Gr.1 Dubai Turf. The son of Dubawi was the impressive winner of the Gr.3 Dubai Millenium on his latest start a month ago. Zarak had finished runner-up to Champion Almanzor twice at three, notably in the Gr.1 Prix du Jockey Club.

Zarkava will visit another Champion this year, as she is due to be covered by Sea The Stars who stands along his Derby winning son Harzand at Gilltown Stud.
