Zeroua represents one of the most successful families in the Aga Khan broodmare band. Descending from the foundation mare Mumtaz Mahal, this daughter of Siyouni is out of Zerkaza, the first foal of Champion Zarkava (by Dalakhani). Zerkaza had already enjoyed success when crossed with an Aga Khan stallion, producing the multiple Stakes winner and Group performer Zeyrek by Sea The Stars.

For Zeroua, success came swiftly with her very first foal, who would turn out to be a Group 1 winner. Offered out of training at the 2021 Arqana Breeding Stock Sale, she was purchased by Mark McStay’s Avenue Bloodstock on behalf of Tanya and John Gunther, who sent her to their homebred stallion Without Parole. The resulting foal, Zavateri, won his first four starts at two, including three at Stakes level and the Gr.1 Vincent O’Brien National Stakes at the Curragh.
