Balankiyla, a winning half-sister to Grade 1 winner Bayrir, was sold by the Aga Khan Studs at the 2021 Arqana Breeding Stock Sale. At the time the dam of two winners from two runners, she was purchased by Margaret O'Toole for €36,000.

Her peadigree swiftly received a black-type update, with her 2019 filly by Zarak, Baiykara, winning the Gr.3 Prix de Royaumont and also placing at Group 2 level in 2022. Baiykara subsquently retired to the Aga Khan Studs broodmare band.

Balankiyla kept on producing for her new owners however, and her 2023 filly by Ten Sovereigns proved to be something special. Irish-trained Balantina, bred by Summerhill / Lynch Bages / S Murphy, broke her maiden in May 2025, and placed twice in Group races in the UK and France before a trip to Del Mar in November. Here, she ran out the winner of the Gr.1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf, keeping on strongly to score by a length and a quarter.
