Daylami 2yo half brother wins first time out

Friday 30 August 2002

Dalakhani, a two year old half brother to the Emirates World Champion Daylami, was the impressive winner of a competitive newcomers’ race at Deauville yesterday.

A son of Darshaan, Dalakhani, took the lead after breaking smartly out of the stalls, and was not stretched to run out the convincing winner of the seven furlong event. His delighted trainer, Alain de Royer Dupré, commented after the race:

“Dalakhani won with promise today. He will run again this Autumn, over a slightly longer distance, as he will probably stay further. His attractive head rather reminds me of his sire’s Darshaan, but his action is totally different.”

The beautifully bred Dalakhani is by the multiple Group 1 producing sire and champion broodmare sire, Darshaan. He is out of the Miswaki mare Daltawa, who is a stakes winner and producer of three other winners including the seven times Group I scorer Daylami, now standing at the Aga Khan Studs Gilltown Stud, and Daymarti, runner up in the Group I Prix Lupin.
