Champion Zarkava among another high-class book set for Siyouni

Thursday 10 February 2022

Exciting year ahead for the French sire sensation.

SIYOUNI produced his second World’s Best Three-Year-Old in 2021, and this season will receive another high-class book of mares befitting of one of Europe’s leading sires.

One of the highlights of the list is champion ZARKAVA, the dam of leading first season sire ZARAK, who will return to SIYOUNI for an early cover. The mating has already produced the Stakes winning filly ZAYKAVA as well as a just-turned-yearling colt to look forward to for next year. Other homebred Aga Khan Studs mares in SIYOUNI’s book include Gr.1 winner DOLNIYA, whose first two foals performed at Stakes level last year; EBIYZA, dam of Gr.1 performing globetrotter EBAIYRA; and SAGAMIYRA, a Group winner who was second in the Gr.1 Prix Rothschild last year.

Amongst other mares set for SIYOUNI are Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Solemia and Gr.1 Prix Vermeille winner Galikova from the Wertheimers, Gr.1 Prix Rothschild winner With You from George Strawbridge, and Kirsten Rausing’s Gr.1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes winner Madame Chiang. Cabaret, whose previous mating with SIYOUNI produced champion St Mark’s Basilica, will visit him again this year. Juddmonte will be sending the dams of Gr.1 winners Viadera and Juliet Foxtrot.

Also visiting SIYOUNI in 2022 will be sisters to Japan, Mogul, Secret Gesture, Lope De Vega, Zelzal, Timepiece, Passage Of Time, Sacred Life and National Defense, as well as the dams of A Raving Beauty, Wings Of Eagles and Walk In Marrakesh.

Mares due to foal to SIYOUNI this season meanwhile include Gr.1 placed ZARKAMIYA (a daughter of ZARKAVA) and EZIYRA, Gr.1 producer SINANIYA and DARIYZA (a sister to Gr.1 winner and sire DARIYAN) from the Aga Khan Studs; Gr.1 winners Kitesurf, Left Hand (returning for 2022), Qemah and Watch Me (who recently gave birth to a filly); Venetia’s Dream (dam of SIYOUNI’s 2022 Classic winner Dream And Do), and Starlet’s Sister (dam of SIYOUNI’s Gr.1 Prix du Jockey Club and Arc winner Sottsass), as well as half-sisters to St Mark’s Basilica, Just The Judge and Magna Grecia.

With SIYOUNI’s first crop conceived at a six-figure fee now turned two, the seasons ahead look to be exciting ones for the French sire sensation.
