Kalambari impressive

Friday 31 May 2002

Kalambari, a half brother to Kalanisi by Kahyasi, was the impressive thirteen length winner of a maiden race yesterday.

Settled towards the rear of the field, Kalambari took up the running three furlongs from home and steadily drew clear of his rivals to win in impressive style. He had previously finished a good second to Zajeel in a Newcastle maiden, the pair finishing fifteen lengths clear of the rest of the field.

Kalambari is a half brother to first season sire Kalanisi, winner of both the Champion Stakes and the Breeders’ Cup Turf. He stands at The Aga Khan Studs Irish base at Gilltown.

Their dam, Kalamba (by Green Dancer) is a full sister to the Listed Diamond Stakes winner Karaferya, and is out of the Listed Fern Hill Stakes winner Kareena. Kareena is herself out of the Listed winner Kermya, and also a half sister to the Gr III Supreme Stakes winner Kerita, herself a dam of the Gr III Anglesey Stakes winner Keraka. This family has already produced the proven sire, Kaldoun.

This year Kalamba has an outstanding foal by Daylami and is currently in foal to Rainbow Quest.
