Harzand achieved a remarkable feat in winning both the Gr 1 Epsom Derby and Gr 1 Irish Derby. In doing so, he became only the 18th horse to complete this Derby double in 151 years and H.H. the Aga Khan’s fifth dual Derby winner.
Harzand won four consecutive races in four months, winning by 16 lengths on his seasonal debut before taking the Gr 3 Ballysax Stakes over 10 furlongs, en route to two back to back Group 1 victories at Epsom and the Curragh.
Harzand is the only dual Group 1 stallion son of leading sire Sea The Stars, who has been ranked amongst the top 5 European stallions since the arrival of his first crop.
His dam is a Group 3 winner over 7 furlongs. He is a brother to three Stakes winners, including Group 3 winning juvenile Harasiya, also 3rd Moyglare Stud Stakes Gr 1.
His first yearlings have sold for €135,000, 130,000 gns, €125,000, 120,000 gns, etc.
He is the sire of highly rated juvenile winners Port Sunlight and French Fusion.
