Top class Aga Khan draft for Goffs

Monday 7 October 2013

A winning half-brother to Gr 1 scorer Mourayan amongst the Irish draft.

Close relatives of numerous Gr 1 winners are among the Aga Khan Studs 11-strong consignment of horses in training for the forthcoming Goffs sale on 24th October.

One major attraction of the draft is likely to be MOURANI, a Dalakhani half-brother to Australian Gr 1 winner Mourayan (Alhaarth), Melbourne Cup third Mourilyan (Desert Prince) and multiple Graded hurdle performer Mourad (Sinndar). Three-year-old colt MOURANI has won over a mile and a half at the Curragh and has the potential to progress.

Another Gr 1 sibling is Shadagann (Invincible Spirit), whose half-sister Shamdala (Grand Lodge) won five Stakes contests including the Gr 1 Gran Premio di Milano. Out of the Irish Oaks runner-up Shamadara (Kahyasi), the lightly raced Shadagann finished second to future Irish Derby scorer Trading Leather as a juvenile.

TIMIKAR (Dynaformer) boasts an important update as he won a maiden by more than three lengths on his seasonal debut on 30 September. This colt, who was having his second start only, is a grandson of triple Group 1 winner Timarida.

Placed colt Shouranour (Lawman) is a half-brother to three Stakes performers, including triple Listed scorer Sharestan (Shamardal) who has also been successful in Dubai and Gr 3 victrix Shareen (Bahri). Another half-brother Shariyan (Kahyasi) has won three times over jumps.

ZAND also boasts a strong pedigree, close to that of champion filly Zarkava. Like the Arc heroine ZAND is by Zamindar and from the same maternal bloodline. Winner over a mile as a juvenile last season, ZAND is a half-brother to six winners under both codes, including Listed scorer and Group placed Zanughan (Azamour).

More pedigree highlights feature those of the unraced Emazar (Elusive Quality), a half-brother to Gr 3 victrix Emiyna (Maria’s Mon) out of a half-sister to four Gr 1 winners, Karlidi (Smart Strike), out of Gr 1 Irish Leger heroine Kastoria (Selkirk), and two-year-old Verawal (Sinndar), a grandson of Prix de Diane winner Vereva.
