Open day at Haras de Bonneval

Tuesday 29 January 2013

Redoute’s Choice, Sinndar and Siyouni will be on show.

The French based farm of the Aga Khan Studs, Haras de Bonneval, will welcome visitors as part as the Route des Etalons operation on Sunday 3rd February, from 9 am to 4.30 pm.

Recently arrived in France, Redoute’s Choice will be at the centre of attention. Twice a Champion sire in Australia, he is shuttling for the first time and he will be standing the Northern Hemisphere season at Haras de Bonneval. His outstanding results as a sire make him one of the best stallions in the world and he counts 97 Stakes winners including 21 Group 1 winners to this date. He is leaving a lasting legacy, as ten of his sons have already produced Stakes winners and six of them are Group 1 sires.

Fellow resident SINNDAR remains the only horse to have won both the Epsom and Irish Derby and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at three. He has since produced 25 Stakes performers, including 4 Group 1 winners and last year’s impressive winner of the Yorkshire Oaks and Prix Vermeille Shareta. He is proving an excellent broodmare sire, as demonstrated by 2012 St Leger winner Encke (by Shawanda) and Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Flotilla (by Louvain).

Young sire SIYOUNI was the best French two-year-old of his generation when he won the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère Gr.1 impressively. Another member of his family shone on the racetrack last year, as his half sister Siyouma won the Sun Chariot Stakes Gr.1 and E.P. Taylor Stakes Gr.1 back to back. SIYOUNI was the first offspring of his dam, a half sister by Danehill to leading French sire Slickly. Popular amongst French and European breeders, SIYOUNI was fully booked for his first two seasons at stud.
