The Gilltown sire’s first yearlings on sale at Arqana

SEA THE STARS’ first yearlings offered for public sale in Europe are expected to be highly sought-after at Deauville’s premier sale in August. The exceptional racehorse and eagerly-awaited sire has already seen one yearling go under the hammer, as his son reached the sum of 40 million Yen at the JRHA July Select Sale in Japan last week. This half-brother to Gr 1 miler Mastercraftsman was presented by Harry Sweeney’s Paca Paca Farm and was purchased by Kaneko Makoto Holdings Co Ltd whose colours were notably carried by the champion Deep Impact.

Arqana’s August catalogue features seven SEA THE STARS yearlings, all boasting superb maternal pedigrees worthy of their father’s.

First through the ring will be lot 23, a granddaughter of Prix Marcel Boussac winner Miss Tahiti, consigned by the Haras d’Etreham. The Ecurie des Monceaux will be represented by two youngsters, beginning with lot 34, a son of dual Listed scorer Navajo Moon (Danehill), the full sister to Gr 2 scorer Five Dynasties. His page also features Gr 1 winner and sire Poliglote as well as dual American Gr 1 winner Special Ring. The second Monceaux consignee is the first offspring of Aga Khan Studs-bred Gr 1 victrix Alpine Rose (lot 120), full sister to a host of Stakes winners including Gr 1 scorer Fragrant Mix. Lot 48, from Ballylinch Stud, is a half-sister to five-time Gr 1 winning miler Canford Cliffs, while lot 81, from Newsells Park Stud, also boasts a Classic half-sibling as this colt is out of the same mare as 1000 Guineas heroine Speciosa. This dam has produced two further Group performers and is herself a half-sister to the champion mare Pride. The Haras de Mezeray will consign a pair of SEA THE STARS progeny, lots 83 and 105. The former is a half-brother to Gr 1 winner and sire Naaqoos and Gr 3 scorer Barastraight, while the latter is the first offspring of Listed victrix and Group placed Verba (Anabaa) who is half-sister to several black-type performers and dams.

Fellow Gilltown stallion Dalakhani is also represented by seven entries in the Deauville catalogue and these include a son of Epsom, Irish and Yorkshire Oaks heroine Alexandrova (Sadler’s Wells) presented by the Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard (lot 115) and a daughter of Classira (Danehill, lot 159) , whose two-year-old son by Galileo recently topped Arqana’s breeze-up sale at Saint-Cloud.

Azamour, whose daughter Valyra opened his account as a Classic sire in June, has two yearlings entered at Deauville. These are lot 239, a daughter of Listed winner Lunaska, and lot 342, out of a half-sister to Poule d’Essai des Pouliches winner Torrestrella.

Haras de Bonneval sire Sinndar is represented by a filly out of a half-sister to 1000 Guineas victrix Natagora (lot 301) and by lot 302, the first daughter of Swiss 1000 Guineas winner and Listed placed Rafale Béré.
