His son Destined For Glory takes Sha Tin Group 2.

AZAMOUR’s four-year-old son DESTINED FOR GLORY lived up to his new name when producing a late burst of speed to lift the Gr 2 Jockey Club Mile on Sunday. The colt reached the line just in time to beat the hot favourite Ambitious Dragon by a short head, putting an end to his run of six consecutive wins.

DESTINED FOR GLORY was meeting Ambitious Dragon for the third time, and had filled the runner-up spot behind the local champion in October in the Gr 3 National Day Cup over seven furlongs. Formerly known as Wade Giles when trained by Ger Lyons, DESTINED FOR GLORY won two races in Ireland and took second in a pair of Gr 3 contests. He now counts a total of four successes after also winning on his debut at Sha Tin earlier this year. John Moore’s charge will now be aimed at the Gr 1 Hong Kong Mile on 11th December where he will meet some top-class international competition, including former Aga Khan Studs representative Rajsaman (Linamix).

Three-year-old AZAMOUR colt Colombian also opened his Stakes account recently with a well-deserved success in the Listed Grand Prix du Nord. The John Gosden-trained colt finished fourth in the Gr 1 Prix du Jockey-Club behind Reliable Man (Dalakhani) earlier in the season on only his fourth racecourse appearance and has been consistent since then, picking up third in the Gr 2 Prix Eugène Adam and fourth in two further Gr 2 events. Colombian is a half-brother to Gr 1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains winner Clodovil (Danehill) and their half-sister CLOVERTE (Green Desert) is offered as lot 249 in Arqana’s forthcoming breeding stock sale.
