Eleven Aga Khan-breds for Arqana’s Mixed Sale

Friday 4 November 2011

Winners and siblings of Group 1 winners feature in this promising draft.

The sale where future Group 1 French Champion Hurdle winner Mandali (Sinndar) was purchased will once again host a strong delegation from the Aga Khan Studs. Ten three-year-olds and a two-year-old filly will pass through the Arqana ring on day 1 of the Autumn Mixed Sale on 14th November. The sale will be held in Deauville for the first time. Among these, six have already won.

Gr 1 Critérium International scorer Carlotamix’s half-brother Caroun (Montjeu) has an update to the catalogue as he has won by 2,5 lengths at Saint-Cloud since publication. The son of American Listed winner Carlitta now counts two victories, both over a mile and a half. Another top class family is represented by dual winner Saderann (Sinndar) who is a half brother to Group 1 winner Sageburg and is out of a Group 2 winning full sister to Arc hero Sagamix. The son of Dr Fong Shamar recently recorded two victories and he belongs to the close family of Shawanda.

Amongst the four lots who have placed, Shamkhal (Tiger Hill) is a half brother to Gr 1 Secretariat Stakes hero and Breeders’ Cup Turf runner-up Shamdinan. The consistent colt has been placed on five occasions and is out of a half-sister to Gr 1 victrix Shamdala. Lot 154 Vidayar (Shamardal) has placed four times in four outings. He is out of Group 3 scorer Visorama (Linamix) who is a half sister to Group 1 winner Varenar.

The only unraced entry is lot 152 Shemshal, a tall gelding by Dalakhani who is a full brother to Gr 3 and Listed winner Shemiyla and three-quarter brother to dual Gr 3 winner Shemima, also by Dalakhani. His granddam Shemaka lifted the Gr 1 Prix de Diane.
