More first foals for Azamour

Wednesday 14 March 2007

Azamour’s first foal arrived on 13th January at Yeomanstown Stud in Ireland; she was a bay filly out of the Stakes winner Bakewell Tart.

Since then many more AZAMOUR foals have been born, all being bay, like the sire himself and he is stamping his stock as strong, attractive individuals. His first foals include a filly out of multiple Stakes winner De Puntillas, owned by Grange SRL, a filly out of a winning dam from the family of Bineyah, Desert Secret and In Camera, and another filly out of a daughter of Gr.1 1000 Guineas winner Harayir.

AZAMOUR’s first Aga Khan Studs bred foals have been born at Gilltown, in Ireland. They include a colt out of ZARANNDA, a multiple Stakes winner and Gr.1 performer, and a filly out of BALANKA, a Listed winner and Gr.1 performer who has produced Gr.2 winner Balakheri. Also bred by the Aga Khan Studs and born at the Haras de Bonneval is a filly out of the young mare Luna Gulch, herself a winner and Stakes performer.

AZAMOUR was the Champion Older Horse in Europe in 2005. He was rated 126, above Motivator, Shamardal, Shirocco, Deep Impact, Bago, Oratorio and David Junior. He won four Gr.1 races at three and four years: the St James’s Palace Stakes, the Irish Champion Stakes, the Prince of Wales Stakes and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes. AZAMOUR is standing at Gilltown Stud in Ireland, at a fee of €25,000 in 2007.
