Quality draft of fillies and mares on offer at Goffs

Wednesday 9 November 2022

Draft includes relations to many star performers.

A draft of 24 fillies and mares from the Aga Khan Studs are among the highlights of the Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale this year.

Recent winners from Aga Khan mares sold at Goffs in previous years include Grade 1 winner Shantisara, whose dam Kharana sold at the Breeding Stock Sale of 2010, Gr.1 Critérium de Saint-Cloud runner-up Arrest, whose dam Nisriyna sold at that same sale, and two-year-old Indestructible, also twice runner-up in Group company this season, whose dam Shareva was sold in 2019. Recent Gr.1 winner Gold Trip is another top-class performer to emerge out of a mare sold by the Aga Khan Studs.

Most recently, of the fillies and mares sold last year, one became a winner and Listed-placed in 2022, four have produced new winners, and three had blacktype updates from their half-siblings, including Rayagara, who is now a half-sister to unbeaten Stakes winning juvenile and 2023 Classic hope RAJAPOUR.

Half of the 2022 draft have already produced winners. They include lot 1174, who is a half-sister to the dam of the aforementioned RAJAPOUR, namely Group 2 winner Raydara. RAYNA won four times herself and is the dam of three winners, including a Stakes performer. She has a Siyouni yearling and filly foal by Saxon Warrior to come, and sells in foal to Group 1 sire Sea The Moon.

Another from this family is lot 1253, RESHMA, an unraced daughter of Siyouni - who is making an encouraging start as a broodmare sire via the likes of Erevann and Times Square.

Lot 1252, EZEKIYA, is one of the highlights of the draft. The unraced three-year-old is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Eziyra and Listed winner Eshera, and hails from the illustrious ‘E’ family, her grandam being a half-sister to Ebadiyla, Edabiya, Enzeli and Estimate.

Another from a particularly noteworthy family is lot 1167. HAZARABA was a winner on the track and has produced two winners at stud, including a Stakes performer. She is an Oasis Dream half-sister to dual Classic winner Harzand, and also has on her page recent Group 1 winner Emily Upjohn.

KALADENA, who sells as lot 1168, is the dam of Listed winner and Group performer Kalaxana, who is retained by the Aga Khan Studs and is herself in foal to Night Of Thunder. KALADENA is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Kalanisi, and two of her half-sisters previously sold at Goffs have gone on to produce Stakes winners for their new connections.

Lot 1172, LELISSA, sells in foal to Churchill, sire of Classic winner VADENI in 2022. Her own dam is a half-sister to Lidana, who sold at Goffs in 2008 and went on to produce Group 1 winner Mont Ormel, Group 3 winner Normandel and La Pyle, dam of 2022 Gr.1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Pyledriver.

A relation to VADENI on offer meanwhile is lot 1249, VEDOUMA, who is a Listed-winning half-sister to his dam as well as being a full-sister to Group 2 winner Vadamar.
