Another Group winner for the sought-after sire.

SIYOUNI has been in fine form on all fronts recently, thanks to juvenile Group scorer POLICY OF TRUTH, and his yearlings in demand at Arqana.

POLICY OF TRUTH ran out the decisive winner of the Gr.3 Prix des Chênes at ParisLongchamp on Thursday and he could now attempt to emulate his sire SIYOUNI in the Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère on Arc day. The progressive colt was earning his second career success after a win in the prestigious Prix d’Etreham maiden at Deauville. POLICY OF TRUTH carries the colours of the Haras du Logis Saint Germain who owns the colt in partnership with his trainers, Pia and Joakim Brandt. Bred by Sahara Group Holdings and Eurowest Bloodstock Services, he is a son of winning Selkirk mare Dawn To Dance. Presented in Deauville as an October yearling last year by Coulonces Consignment, he was bought privately for €30,000.

Arqana’s Select Yearling Sale saw a strong demand for the progeny of SIYOUNI, with a top price of €700,000 for lot 194, a half-sister to Group 1 scorer Polydream. Out of Listed winner and Group placed Polygreen (Green Tune), this filly is also half-sister to Group 3 winner Big Brothers Pride and Stakes scorer Evaporation. Offered by the Ecurie des Monceaux, the filly was knocked down to Jean-Claude Rouget on behalf of Gainesway Farm.

Another filly to prove very popular in the ring was lot 174, a SIYOUNI half-sister to Group 1 scorer Intellogent. Also consigned by the Ecurie des Monceaux, this filly joins Coolmore following a final bid of €400,000 from Mags O’Toole and M.V. Magnier.

The top-priced colt for SIYOUNI was lot 95, a grandson of Argentine champion Safari Queen, and the first offspring of a half-sister to Group 1 winner Queen’s Jewel. The colt from the Ecurie des Monceaux was knocked down for €340,000 to agent Daniel Colé on behalf of owner Shigeo Nomura, and will join trainer Hiroo Shimizu. The trainer commented, “He’s a lovely colt by SIYOUNI, a very good stallion. He’s very attractive.”

In total, 15 yearlings by Haras de Bonneval sire SIYOUNI changed hands during the first two premium sessions of the Arqana sale, all for six-figure sums. The average price reached €221,667 and the total €3,325,000.

SIYOUNI’s stable companion ZARAK was seeing his first yearlings go through the ring at Deauville. The Group 1 winning son of Dubawi and Zarkava attracted plenty of interest, with eight of his yearlings averaging €53,500, more than six times his covering fee. They notably caught the eye of leading trainer Jean-Claud Rouget who purchased three yearlings by ZARAK, including a lovely filly from the family of Ectot consigned by Haras des Capucines for €100,000 and a daughter of Gr.1 Prix de Diane second Amour A Papa for €75,000.
