Sisters of Zarkava, Darjina and Ervedya among Deauville draft

Aga Khan Studs present a stellar draft.

Aga Khan Studs broodmares sold at Arqana’s December Breeding Stock Sale have produced a host of Group 1 performers in recent years, headed by Classic scorers Almanzor, Capri, or the top class Vadamos and Librisa Breeze. The 2019 Deauville catalogue features a star-studded consignment of 26 fillies and mares from the Aga Khan Studs, including Group 1 winners, sisters and daughters.

SHALANAYA (lot 8), winner of the Group 1 Prix de l’Opéra and a successful broodmare, represents a major attraction in the catalogue, and the daughter of Lomitas has been covered by Almanzor. Among the proven producers, some magnificent pedigrees include lot 9 SALIYNA (Linamix), sister to Slickly and to the dam of SIYOUNI, she’s the dam of a Stakes performer, lot 54 DARJANA (Invincible Spirit), a dual winner who is the half-sister to Darjina, from the family of Almanzor, and black-type dam ZARAKIYSHA (lot 55), who is none other than the half-sister to Zarkava, champion on the track and dam of Group 1 winner and young sire ZARAK. ZARAKIYSHA, by Kendor, is presented in foal to top French stallion SIYOUNI. Other noteworthy broodmares are Listed winner SHAMAKIYA (Intikhab, lot 99), half-sister to a host of Stakes winners including Group 1 victrix Shamdala, Listed runner-up VALASYRA (lot 159), a Sinndar half-sister to Prix de Diane Gr.1 heroine Valyra and dam of two black-type fillies, and the Listed placed LOREDANA (Azamour, lot 143), from the family of Linamix.

ELAYA (lot 64), a full sister to triple Group 1 winner Ervedya (SIYOUNI) is one of a number of beautifully-bred fillies out of training which are also set to pass under the hammer. Other highlights include RIAZANA (Sinndar, lot 205), a full-sister to Prix Marcel Boussac Gr.1 winner Rosanara out of a full sister to Rajsaman, DALKEYA (Exceed and Excel, lot 191), a half-sister to Dubai Sheema Classic Gr.1 winner Dolniya, whose dam is a half-sister to Dalakhani and Daylami, SADIQA (Poet’s Voice, lot 61), a winning half-sister to Group 1 winner Sagawara, out of a sister to Sagamix, from the family of this year’s Group 1 winner Japan and promising juvenile Group winner Mogul and lot 224 RIDISIA (Mizzen Mast), a daughter of Prix de l’Opéra winner Ridasiyna.
