Listed winner Shelir heads Goffs draft

Friday 11 October 2019

Aga Khan Studs dozen hail from top families.

Twelve well-bred colts and geldings compose an exciting Aga Khan Studs consignment at the forthcoming Goffs Horses In Training Sale on 22nd October.

Winner of the Listed Tetrach Stakes, lot 566 SHELIR will be a major attraction in the catalogue. The three-year-old colt by Dark Angel is a grandson of Gr.1 Prix de Diane winner Shemaka who has produced no less than four Stakes performers including dual Group 3 winner Shemima (Dalakhani), the full sister to SHELIR’s dam Shelina. The illustrious Shemaka is also the granddam of Shamiyan (lot 557), a once-raced colt by Lope De Vega.

Lot 565 TINANDALI has won two races to date, over a mile and ten furlongs. The son of Oasis Dream is out of Group 3 winner Timarwa who in turn is a daughter of Champion Older Mare Timarida. The colt presents an interesting dual-purpose profile as he is a half-brother to Timiyan, placed at Group 3 level over hurdles.

The catalogue features two sons of half-sisters to the exceptional ZARKAVA and Group 1 winning hurdler Zarkandar. These are lot 555, the unraced ZEYDABAD (Camelot), and lot 559, placed colt ZARAFSHAN, by Shamardal and out of Group 3 winner Zarshana.

Also by Shamardal, lot 556 AZAKAN is out of a half-sister to Champion racehorse AZAMOUR and to the dam of Australian sensation and young sire The Autumn Sun, while HAZRAN (lot 561) is by Lope De Vega and out of a winning half-sister to dual Derby hero and promising young stallion HARZAND. This colt has been placed in all six outings to date.

Successful over a mile at the Curragh, KATTANI (Tamayuz, lot 562) is the son of a winning half-sister to Group 2 scorer and Oaks third Katiyra, while lot 558 KARAKHAN is a So You Think half-brother to three black-type performers including dual Group 3 winner and sire KARAKTAR and KAREZAK, a Group 1 runner-up over hurdles.
