An exceptional draft of breeding prospects from the Aga Khan Studs

Monday 20 November 2017

Zarkava’s half-sister offers a rare opportunity to invest in top bloodline.

Always a source of high-quality breeding stock, in recent years the Aga Khan Studs have sold the dams of Classic winners Capri and Almanzor, as well as the dams of Harzand and Shakeel before these colts won at Group 1 level. At Arqana’s December Breeding Stock Sale, investors will again have the opportunity to acquire some top-class bloodlines from the Aga Khan Studs.

The attraction of the 41-strong consignment is undoubtedly ZAKIA (lot 197), who is none other than a half-sister to the undefeated Champion filly Zarkava by New Approach. ZAKIA descends from the illustrious Petite Etoile and Zahra, and Group 1 winner and exciting young sire Zarak, out of Zarkava, adds further appeal to her exceptional pedigree.

SHEMIYLA (lot 67) hails from a prolific black-type family. A Group 3 and Listed winner herself, the daughter of proven broodmare sire Dalakhani is a half-sister to the dam of Grand Prix de Paris hero Shakeel. SHEMIYLA is in foal to Derby and Arc winner Golden Horn.

The quartet of DOLIANOVA (lot 182), SABA (lot 50), VANZARA (lot 91) and BARSEMDARA (lot 148) are all siblings to winners at the highest level. A three length-winner at Saint-Cloud, the blue-blooded DOLIANOVA is a half-sister to Dubai Sheema Classic winner Dolniya, while her dam is a half-sister to Daylami and Dalakhani. By Zamindar, SABA is out of a full sister to Arc hero Sagamix, and she is a half-sister to Prix Saint-Alary scorer Sagawara. VANZARA, who is by Redoute’s Choice and out of a half-sister to Valixir, boasts a pedigree page dense in black-type as she is a half-sister to Prix Saint-Alary victrix Vadawina, dam of Group2 winner Vadamar and Classic hope The Pentagon, Vazira who also lifted the Prix Saint-Alary, and Stakes winners Vadapolina and Vadsalina. BARSEMDARA, half-sister to Grand Prix de Paris winner Behkabad, is out of Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed Behkara.

Winning fillies ROSVANA (lot 49) and SHAZIA (lot 346) are both daughters of Group 1 winners. ROSVANA (Dansili) is out of Prix Marcel Boussac winner and Prix de Diane runner-up Rosanara (Sinndar), and is a close relative to Classic sire Rajsaman, while SHAZIA is a daughter of Prix de l’Opéra winner Shalanaya, from the family of Shergar.

Lot 93 VADSARIYA (Exceed And Excel) boasts both performances and pedigree. A dual winner and Stakes-placed, she is out of a half-sister to Prix de Diane heroine Valyra. Young broodmare KERILA (lot 165) is the winner of two races and is a half-sister to four black-type performers, including Group 3 Prix du Bois winner Keratiya. The daughter of Makfi is in foal to leading French sire Siyouni.
