Talented stayer Darbuzan heads Arc Sale trio

Friday 15 September 2017

Aga Khan Studs present exciting draft of three winners.

Arqana’s Arc Sale catalogue features three talented performers from the Aga Khan Studs, of which the highlight is recent Group 3 scorer DARBUZAN. Offered as lot 52, this colt is the leading stayer of his generation in France and he has won four of his five outings including the Listed Prix Michel Houyvet and the Group 3 Prix de Lutèce over 3000 metres on 10th September at Saint-Cloud. The Mikel Delzangles–trained three-year-old holds an entry in the Gr. 2 Prix Chaudenay on the day of the Arqana Sale. DARBUZAN is a nephew to Darjina, and like the triple Group 1 winning miler, he is also by Zamindar. This is also the family of Darkova, dam of 2016 European Champion three-year-old Almanzor.

Dual winner and Stakes-placed BERDIBEK (lot 43) holds a bright future on the flat or over jumps. The three-year-old gelding has won over nine and eleven furlongs and demonstrated his well-being earlier this month with third place in the Listed La Coupe de Marseille, while he has also finished fourth in the Gr. 3 Prix de Reux over an extended mile and a half at Deauville. BERDIBEK is a grandson of Gr. 2 Prix de Pomone victrix Bernimixa (Linamix), dam of Mighty High (formerly Berouni) who has won a pair of Listed contests in Hong Kong as well as a third place in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin.

The trio is completed by lot 53 DEVAMANI, a half-brother to Group 1 scorer and promising young sire Dariyan. The consistent DEVAMANI has finished in the first three of all six of his public outings, and won over a mile and a half at Vichy in July. The beautifully-bred colt is a son of Dubawi and Gr. 1 Hong Kong Vase winner Daryakana who has also produced Listed winner Darabad, while his grand-dam Daryaba won both the Gr. 1 Prix de Diane and Prix Vermeille.
