The Aga Khan Studs strongly represented at Arqana’s Summer Sale

Wednesday 14 June 2017

Half-brothers to Rajsaman and Sageburg among Deauville draft.

The Aga Khan Studs will offer a draft of 18 well-bred individuals, presenting a wide-ranging appeal for a future on the flat, over jumps or in the paddocks, at Arqana’s forthcoming Summer Sale at Deauville.

Some excellent pedigrees feature among the fourteen Aga Khan Studs’ colts and geldings in the catalogue and one attraction is likely to be RAHIL (lot 297), an unraced Dalakhani half-brother to Group 1 placed and recent Classic sire Rajsaman, and to Rosawa, dam of Gr. 1 victrix Rosanara (Sinndar). This family is also represented by lot 402 RESHOUN (Shamardal), a winner over eleven furlongs for Alain de Royer Dupré. A half-brother to Group 1 scorer and sire Sageburg will follow RESHOUN through the ring. This Siyouni colt, SAJJAD, has been placed twice and he is out of Group 2 winning mare Sage Et Jolie (Linamix), full-sister to Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Sagamix.

Other blue-blooded colts include lot 298 TANVEER, a son of Kitten’s Joy and Group 3 winner Timarwa (Daylami), herself a daughter of champion filly Timarida, and lot 299 DALTAK (Holy Roman Emperor), a half-brother to Group 3 victrix Daltaya, dam of Group 1 winner Dalkala, out of a full sister to Daylami and Dalakhani. Lot 336 DALSHAND (New Approach), a winner over a mile at Saint-Cloud, also hails from this illustrious maternal line.

The unraced grandson of Group 1 winner Shamdala, SHAMSOUN (Medicean, lot 300), and SAROSH (Sea The Stars, lot 334), a half-brother to Group 1 runner-up Sarkiyla both present excellent pedigrees, as do lot 337 VALAMAZ, a placed son of Azamour and dual Group scorer Vadapolina who has already produced Poule d’Essai des Pouliches second Veda, and HAROON (Lope De Vega), lot 401, out of a Group 1-placed half-sister to the dam of 2016 Derby hero and young sire Harzand.

This consignment also offers breeders an opportunity to invest in some quality Aga Khan broodmare prospects, from the families of Zarkava, Kalanisi and Shahrastani. In foal to the Haras de Bonneval’s beautifully-bred young stallion Dariyan, lot 202 SHENDIYZA is a granddaughter of Prix de Diane victrix Shemaka who has produced a host of black-type winners and dams.
