Aga Khan sires all the rage at Arqana.

Foals by Aga Khan Studs sires SEA THE STARS, Redoute’s Choice and SIYOUNI generated great interest during Arqana’s recent breeding stock sale. Classic stallion SEA THE STARS was responsible for the second top-priced foal, a colt sold for 200,000 Euros.

Represented by a single filly, Redoute’s Choice raised a bid of 160,000 Euros, while the nine foals by SIYOUNI to change hands attracted a total of 432,000 Euros.

Presented by the Haras du Logis Saint Germain, SEA THE STARS’ son, lot 53, is the first offspring of prolific black-type performer Gotlandia (Anabaa). The colt was snapped up by John Clarke on behalf of the Tsui family’s Sunderland Holding and will now head to Ireland.

Born following the second of Redoute’s Choice’s two shuttle seasons at the Haras de Bonneval, lot 222 was the top-priced filly foal to pass through the Deauville ring. In addition to her renowned Australian sire, the filly represents a top class Aga Khan Studs maternal line as her dam Zamid (Namid) is none other than the half-sister to Zarkasha, dam of Zarkava.

SIYOUNI recorded a highest bid of 75,000 Euros for lot 341, out of a full sister to Group 3 winner and Group 1 runner-up Bernebeau, during the Sunday session of the sale. The sire of triple Group 1 heroine Ervedya went on to dominate the third day’s activity with four of his foals among the top-priced quintet of the session. The Bonneval sire’s progeny registered an average of 48,000 Euros, an impressive mark-up for breeders whose mares had been covered for a fee of just 7,000 Euros, and which is more than double the overall average for foals at the sale, at 23,562 Euros.

SIYOUNI also enjoyed success with his daughter Lady Sybil, winner of two races including the Listed Prix Amandine. The three-year-old filly out of training was knocked down to Shadai Farm for 220,000 Euros.
