Bull Run wins Blue Riband Trial by 15 lengths

Daylami looks to have a possible Derby candidate from his first crop of three year olds, following Bull Run’s 15 length win in the Blue Riband Trial Stakes yesterday afternoon at Epsom.

Now unbeaten in two runs, the handsome grey son of Daylami had previously won a Windsor maiden by nine lengths first time out. In similar fashion to his debut run, he settled well behind the leaders, taking the lead two furlongs out and drawing well clear of his rivals before being eased down in the final hundred yards.

His demolition of a select field immediately prompted BBC2 commentator Willie Carson to say: “That was very impressive indeed… Daylami is a very good stallion, and this horse has taken on his colour as well as his ability.”

Trainer David Loder added: “I must say I was very impressed with him… I couldn’t be more pleased with that… He has just progressed and progressed and has handled the course so well.” When asked about Bull Run’s possible objectives, Loder highlighted the Listed Predominate Stakes at Goodwood as his next likely target, noting that he would have to speak to owner Sheikh Mohammed about a possible supplement for the Epsom Derby.

Bull Run’s performance comes three days after the win of another talented colt from Daylami’s first crop of three year olds, Grey Swallow, in the Listed Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial last Sunday.
