The present Aga Khan has bred over a hundred Group
I winners from his famous broodmare band which has
been continually developed since his grandfather the
late Aga Khan III was first introduced to racing.
The young Aga Khan Studs stallions are well supported
by this prestigious broodmare band, the success of
whose bloodlines has never been more apparent, both
on the racetrack and in the sales ring.
Following the re-opening of the Bonneval stallion station and the relocation of several high class mares to St. Crespin,
the Aga Khan further demonstrated his commitment to the French breeding industry by acquiring the entire Lagardère breeding
operation in early 2005.
The genetic base of the Aga Khan Studs’ broodmare band has also been enhanced by the introduction of the more North American bloodlines
that Jean-Luc Lagardère so successfully crossed with Linamix. These female lines will be studied and matings analysed carefully to learn more about the
Lagardère families in the same way that the Boussac and Dupré families were examined before being built upon.
