Breeders delighted with dual Derby winner’s progeny.

The foaling season is well underway and half a dozen foals by dual Derby winner HARZAND have been born. They all have in common the positive reviews of their breeders who are delighted with them.

Elyaadi, from the family of Champion two-year-old Anna Paola, foaled a “strong filly, very correct and athletic” according to Pat Connell of Al Eile Stud (photo). At Stanley Lodge Stud, Sightline, who is out of a sister to Group 1 winner Look Here, gave birth to a filly described as a “good size, correct foal out of a maiden mare” by David Cunningham. Time Crystal, the dam of two Stakes performers and a close relative to Zelzal and Crystal Music, also foaled a filly of which Charlie Wyatt said she was a “beautiful foal, we are very happy with her”. Whatcote Farm Stud said “we are very pleased with our filly” out of O’Connor’s Girl, a close relative to 1,000 Guineas winner Virginia Waters.

HARZAND comes from the third crop of leading sire Sea The Stars and is his highest earning son. A tough and consistent racehorse, HARZAND won four consecutive races in four months at three including the Gr.1 Epsom Derby, the Gr.1 Irish Derby and the Gr.3 Ballysax Stakes. He hails from one of the most prolific Aga Khan families, being a son of Group 3 winner Hazariya who produced four Stakes performers out of her first five foals. HARZAND stands alongside his sire Sea The Stars and Born To Sea at Gilltown Stud in Ireland.
