In recent years mares sold by the Aga Khan Studs have produced a host of top-class performers such as Almanzor, Capri, Librisa Breeze, Luminate, The Pentagon or Vadamos. Five unraced fillies representing some of the Aga Khan Studs leading families feature in the catalogue for Arqana’s forthcoming February Sale, offering investors the chance to purchase potential elite broodmare prospects.
Lot 240 ZEREMA represents a rare opportunity for breeders to invest in one of the Aga Khan Studs most exquisite maternal lines. The filly is out of a Group 3 placed half-sister to champion Zarkava, who in addition to her exploits on the track, is dam of Group 1 winner and young sire Zarak. By Dawn Approach, ZEREMA is a half-sister to three winners.
Lot 210 KOSTIYA hails from the family of champion racehorse and influential sire Kahyasi. A daughter of Dark Angel and winning mare Kastania (Gone West) she is a granddaughter of Gr. 1 Irish St Leger winner Kastoria.
Redoute’s Choice filly DILIYA (lot 249) represents a family which has already shone for new connections as she is out of a half-sister to Dialafara, dam of Gr. 1 Irish Derby hero Capri. From a top Jean-Luc Lagardère pedigree, DILIYA is a granddaughter of Group 2 winner and Gr. 1 Prix Vermeille runner-up Diamilina.
SARLIMA (lot 303) is an interesting entry. By Street Cry, she is the first offspring of the Group and Listed victrix and Group 1 placed Sarkiyla (Oasis Dream). Her fourth dam Safita was runner-up in both the Gr. 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and Prix Saint-Alary, and gave birth to Group 2 scorer and sire Safawan.
Last but not least, lot 358 DARNAVA (Stormy Atlantic) boasts a pedigree rich in black type. A half-sister to Listed placed Deremah , her dam is a half-sister to Gr. 1 Prix du Jockey Club scorer Darsi, while her third dam has produced a host of Stakes winners and performers, and her influence extends down to champions Almanzor and Darjina.
